INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OZONE LAYER

The ozone layer is a highly fragile band of gas that protects life on the planet from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays, and it is under threat due to the use of certain chemical products over many years.

Saturday, September 16 marks the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Thanks to our commitment to the environment, we want to help preserve this important layer of the planet. To this end, we carry out various actions to protect the environment:

-We are committed to green energy, with 6,000 m2 of solar panels.
-FRISELVA is the first company in the group to obtain AENOR’s zero waste certification.
-Our packaging contains recycled material
-Caring for our relationship with the planet is an investment in our customers’ future

On August 31st, FRISELVA attended the presentation of HIGH SEASON 2023, due to its sponsorship relationship. The event took place at the Teatre Municipal de Girona, an occasion to unveil the offerings of this upcoming new edition.

With our commitment to society, we support Girona-based organizations to promote and foster culture.

The TRAIL L’ENXERINADA is a charitable sporting event organized by the AFA of the Pericot School in Girona. A group of parents, passionate about trail running and nature, concluded that a great way to help the school was to organize a mountain trail to raise funds to improve school services.

FRISELVA, through its commitment to society and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, decided to do its part by providing products for the race contestants.

The SATURN project studies the feasibility of valorizing the unsaturated fatty acid-rich fat fraction obtained from fractionation processes of the different trimmings generated during pork butchering, with the main objective of revaluing pork fat.

The interest in recovering these fatty acids is based on a Circular Economy approach, as these unsaturated fatty acids, primarily oleic acid (from the omega-9 family) and linoleic acid (from the omega-6 family), are known for being healthy and for maintaining human cardiovascular health. Furthermore, incorporating these unsaturated fatty acid-rich fractions into food products could result in more palatable products while increasing their nutritional value.

Today, 30 September, the third edition of El Sopar dels Miralls is being held, an innovative and unique social event organised with the aim of raising funds for research for the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI). An edition was scheduled for March 2020, but, just a few days before, the outbreak of the pandemic prevented it from taking place. Now, after many months and several attempts, normality will resume by bringing back this social and charitable initiative. FRISELVA, with its commitment to society, collaborates with this initiative to contribute to the common good and shared growth.

Last 15 September, FRISELVA attended the benchmarking day organised by FORUM CARLEMANY, where topics on sustainable business strategies were discussed and there was an opportunity to share different experiences with the ESG group. Thanks to our commitment to sustainability, we believe in the importance of fostering strong business foundations to ensure a stable, robust future with optimal management. We would also like to thank FORUM CARLEMANY for giving us this opportunity.

FRISELVA is committed to circular water management. Wastewater recycling is essential for achieving sustainability in industrial processes and contributes to combating the waste of this precious resource, which must be managed cautiously due to its scarcity.

Yesterday, 19 June, we experienced a great #victory: the promotion of Girona Football Club and Girona Basketball Club to the first division. We are proud and delighted to be able to share this achievement as #sponsors of both teams for years. Today, November 19, The Great Food Drive 2021 begins. In line with our commitment to society, we wish to contribute to this solidarity effort and help improve our community for the common good.

This is the slogan of the new charity campaign to collect bottle caps for Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, to support research into a cure for children with cancer.

In line with its values of integrity and CSR commitment to society, Friselva is launching this initiative to build a better future.

At FRISELVA, we give a new lease of life to unused materials through our “OUTLET”, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability.
The amount raised was donated to the Fundació Esclerosi Múltiple, to support people affected by this disease and the research into it.

As a token of thanks, we received gifts from the campaign, which were given to those who contributed the most to the fundraising.

Last February, Riudellots de la Selva celebrated the 6th edition of Fiporc, the fair dedicated to the world of the pig that highlights everything surrounding the porcine sector, organizing everything from tastings of dishes with pork as the main ingredient, exhibitions, and workshops, to activities for children.

At FRISELVA, we have collaborated with the fair for another year and, on this occasion, we also did so with La Cuina a Sils by providing our product for the cooks to use in their traditional recipes.

Another edition that has been a complete success!

On May 17, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Girona basketball team, Friselva published a congratulatory message in the Diari de Girona in honor of the Uni Girona team.

On September 13, the second intake of students began their 100% dual-training professional certificates in food industries at Friselva, in partnership with the KREAS Foundation.
