Regulation

On January 1, 2013, COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing, promoted by Brussels, came into force.

At Friselva, we have implemented all the necessary changes to adapt to and comply with the new regulations on animal welfare, as well as to obtain training certificates for all personnel involved in the handling of animals from their reception until the moment of slaughter.

Quality certifications

Friselva is a company that has always shown great concern for the environment and its surroundings in general; indeed, it was the first Spanish slaughterhouse to be ISO 14001 certified.

Since then and up to the present day, Friselva has followed a long and clear path with the aim of obtaining the highest possible quality certifications within the food sector.

Environment

During 2025, the organization’s carbon footprint for scopes 1 and 2 was calculated, resulting in 15,712 tCO₂e.

The periodic measurement of our carbon footprint allows us to evaluate the evolution of our greenhouse gas emissions and monitor the objectives established in our Emissions Reduction Plan. Furthermore, it constitutes a key tool for identifying opportunities for improvement and driving actions aimed at energy efficiency and reducing the climate impact of our activity.
